WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?

Permanent makeup is sometimes called semi-permanent make up or micropigmentation. They are all forms of cosmetic tattooing but there is a major difference between this treatment and a traditional body tattoo.

Permanent make up treatments are performed using a digital machine or a hand tool called microblading that implants hypoallergenic pharmaceutical grade pigments into the top layer of the skin.Permanent makeup pigments are made from mineral and organic material and are designed to fade over time

A traditional tattoo goes much deeper and uses different pigments that last forever as they are made by acrylic elements.

Here a list of permanent makeup techniques: microblading, feathering, hairstrokes, microshading, ombre brows, brow mist, combination brows, lip blush lip tint, lip contour and shade, eyeliner, shaded eyeliner

DOES IT LAST FOREVER?

Fortunately, it doesn’t last forever if the permanent makeup is properly performed. Imagine being stuck with the same brow shape or lip color for the rest of your life. Permanent makeup is designed to gently fade over time.

With ageing, the facial muscles are relaxing and you may need to have a different shape and color than 5-10 years ago. The fading of the permanent makeup allows you to have flexibility towards these changes.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY TATTOO PROCEDURE?

  • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.

  • You must stop using Retinol 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid using it for the 2 weeks following your appointment.

  • If you get Botox regularly on your forehead, please get that done no later than 3 months before your appointment. I generally prefer to work when the botox is faded to ensure I can make your brows as symmetrical as possible.

  • Avoid chemical peels at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Do not come to your appointment with a sunburn. In this case, email me at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to reschedule.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST FOR?

  • EYEBROWS MICROBLADING and OMBRE POWDER lasts 1-3 years. If you combine it with the yearly Refresh, it lasts longer while

  • LIP BLUSH lasts 2-5 years depending the saturation of tattoo color

  • EYELINER lasts 5+ years, you may need a touchup every 2 years if you want your eyeliner deep black

Please note the lifespan of a permanent makeup it varies depending on:

  • Skin type: oily skin and young skin tend to release the pigment faster

  • How deep the pigment is tattooed: more superficial insertion of the ink lasts less but it looks more natural (the way I work), more deeper is resulting in richer/heavier color but lasts longer.

  • Lifestyle: lots of tanning, chemical peeling, skin products with actives etc will make the tattoo fade quicker

IS PERMANENT MAKEUP IT PAINFUL?

I do all that I can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible.Topical anaesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort, followed by a liquid anaesthetic during the procedure. Some clients may feel a bit of discomfort, depending on your sensitivity.

IS THE COLOR GOING TO CHANGE OVER TIME?

I reply to this question based on my tattooist skills and the behaviour of the pigments that I’m using for many years. My ink is very high quality, it will never turn red, blue or green. Simply the color we choose together is going to gently fade overtime and lose intensity.

When the tattoo is healed after 4 weeks, the color will be slightly cooler (other than lighter) than the first day of the tattoo. Why? Because the ink is living under the skin layers that are by nature pink/grayish or tan/grayish.

The deeper the tattoo, the cooler the color result. I tend to stay more superficial to reduce the cool effect.

CAN I HAVE IT IF I’M PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

As a precaution to avoid any complications, I do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women. I can accept breastfeeding.

WHAT IS THE AFTER CARE?

The after care is very easy to follow. Click here to see the instructions EYEBROWS, LIPS, EYELINER

CAN I GO TO THE GYM AFTER?

Give yourself a day of rest from the gym. Light exercise is ok from the day after. If you sweat a lot, I recommend waiting from 3 to 7 days.

IS THE TOUCH UP INCLUDED?

In order to ensure that the brows heal perfectly a minimum of two treatments are usually needed 4-6 weeks apart. This first touch-up is included as it gives us the ability to correct any areas that possibly faded.

HOW OFTEN I HAVE TO REFRESH MY TATTOO?

I like to refresh when the color has faded 50%-60%. If the refresh is performed too soon, the color may result bulky. If it’s been waiting too long, I may need to redo the tattoo again resulting in more expensive work.

  • Eyebrows: between 1-2 years

  • Lips: 2-3 years

  • Eyes: 2-3 years if you want to intensify the black

IS THE NEEDLE STERILISED?

Absolutely yes, sterilised and disposable. To ensure the highest quality of safety, all of my tools are one time use only. All blades, hand tools, wipes, and any other product used during the procedure are disposed of as biohazardous waste after each appointment, giving each client peace of mind.

ARE YOU GOING TO DESIGN THE SHAPE BEFORE TATTOO?

Yes for sure! There is no such thing as free hand permanent makeup. I spend all the time necessary for the design. A strong point of my work ethic is respecting every individual’s unique beauty, you won’t find one shape like others (check the gallery). That requires time, patience, affinity and good lights! When we’ll feel the spark, the shape is completed and I’ll tattoo perfectly over the design.

CAN I GET PERMANENT MAKEUP IF I HAVE FILLER/BOTOX?

  • EYEBROWS : if you get botox on your forehead or brow lift, I prefer to perform the microblading or ombre brows when the injection has faded so I can design your eyebrows on your natural setting. If you don’t want to wait, your botox needs to be at least 3 weeks old.

  • LIPS : you can have lip blush if you have filler. I need to ensure that the filler has been placed symmetrical, otherwise the tattoo shape will be compromised.

DOES LIP BLUSH MAKE LIPS LOOK BIGGER?

Lip Blush can give you 3 different types of effects: fuller, bigger or both! For fuller lips, I follow your natural lips shape and fill in with the color. For bigger lips, I overline the lips by tweaking the shape ( there is a limit I need to respect otherwise it looks fake). The line is very well blushed so It won’t look like a harsh line. For fuller and bigger, is the combination of both! Lip teaser pics here

I’M VERY SCARED IT’S NOT GOING TO LOOK NATURAL

I totally get it. We are scared when we don’t know enough about a new procedure. For this reason, I offer a free consultation in order to clarify the procedure, the process, the style and answer all of your questions. Permanent makeup can be scary because we may see friends with bad work done. It’s extremely important to choose an experienced tattooist that understands your needs and has the style you like. My style is delicate and natural.

DOES THE PERMANENT MAKEUP HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Yes, too much time spent looking at the mirror!

Jokes aside, I never experienced any side effects in 11 years of work.

Everything I use is disposable and complying with hygiene standards, that will reduce to zero the chance of infection from my side ( you need to follow a good after care hygiene) Microblading heals very well as it is a superficial cut.

There is a possible side effect after Lip Blush, if you suffer from a cold sores, you should take the cold sore treatment tablets before the Lip Blush procedure in order to lower the chance of triggering it.

Eyeliner possible side effect is the color migration. The technician needs to recognise if you are an eligible candidate, stay far away from the tear ducts and be very light handed: in that way there will be no color migration.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?

Generally 4 weeks as it’s the time that the skin takes to regenerate. The visible healing varies depending on the procedure:

  • EYEBROWS: The first week the color is a bit darker then a peel starts to form (light one for microblading, thicker for ombre ). The peel will fall between 10-14 days revealing a lighter color. Generally this time is not considered uncomfortable at all, you can go to work the same day of the procedure.

  • LIPS: the first day your lips are very swollen. Day after is totally fine to go to work. The first week lips are a bit more colorful and very dry. There is a very light peel to go through but nothing uncomfortable

  • EYES: surprisingly there is a very light swell after the procedure that will disappear after a few hours. Totally fine the day after, a bit of tenderness is normal though but eyes look very normal from the day after.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND OMBRE POWDER BROWS?

The Microblading is performed with a hand tool (not machine) and replicates the hair stroke appearance called also feathering. The Ombre Powder Brows are made with a digital pen and the result wants to be “powdery” like it has been applied to a veil of powder. The color saturation can be built up so , as you prefer, you can have a more light or richer color.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND FEATHERING?

An eyebrow permanent makeup can be performed with a digital pen or a manual tool. With both types of equipment you can get a hair stroke/feathering effect. We call Microblading a hair stroke / feathering  that is performed with the manual tool. We can’t call microblading if it’s performed with a digital pen. My speciality is the microblading, I don’t perform feathering with the machine anymore. I find the microblading hair stroke much thinner and precise.

HOW LONG IS THE APPOINTMENT?

Two hours on average. During your appointment we will consult with you the entire time ensuring we are on the same page. Much of the time is spent measuring and drawing and agreeing on your perfect shape and color. The actual procedure itself takes an hour. The touch-up appointment will take about an hour.
